Mother slumps, dies at son’s wedding

Tragedy struck in Idah, headquarters of Idah local government at the weekend when a mother suddenly slumped and died during her son’s wedding.

The woman simply identified as Mrs Hassan,the groom’s mother was a senior nurse of the Federal Medical Centre, (FMC) Lokoja ,Kogi State.

LEADERSHIP newspaper reported that Mrs Hassan had gone home (Idah) to celebrate with her only surviving son in his moment of joy having found a wife.

An eyewitness told our reporter that Mrs Hassan was unusually enthusiastic exchanging pleasantries with guest through handshake before she suddenly slumped and was certified dead shortly afterwards.

Mrs Hassan lost her retired husband from the Ministry of Works, Lokoja, a couple of years back before this tragedy hit the family.

Hon Bala Audu, a close friend of the family who spoke to LEADERSHIP on phone stressed that death is a necessary end but this particular death came as a rude shock.

He noted that for the couple to settle and face realities of life, they need a lot of encouragement.

“What is ahead of us is to console the couple and pray God to repose the soul of the decease” he said.
